OK, first things first: Nobody really stormed New Orleans' Sazerac Bar in 1949.

The women who bravely sat on bar stools with cocktails in front of them — something you rarely saw in those days outside of Mardi Gras — were models brought in by Seymour Weiss, the inventive manager of the Roosevelt Hotel where the Sarezac was located.

But stormin' or no stormin', the event that September day marked a shift in ideals about women imbibing adult beverages in public.

Which is why The Parish of Tucson is rolling out a month of ladies happy hours to celebrate. From 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays — that's tonight —  through Sept. 25, there will be drink specials, wine tastings, fashion shows and special themes all culminating to the finale. On that night, put on your best vintage attire and compete for prizes while you listen to Tracy Shedd and the Cordials perform.

The Parish gastropub is located at 6453 N. Oracle Road.
